Turkey hunting requires a different approach than big game. Rather than passing completely through the bird, an effective turkey broadhead should transfer as much energy as possible into the target while still creating strong cutting action.

✔ Rear “Spur” Blade Design
At the rear of the head, sharpened Spur blades create a 1 1/8" cutting diameter that delivers aggressive cutting action. These blades engage as the arrow slows, helping maximize damage and energy transfer into the bird.
This design helps increase the likelihood of quick recoveries when hunting tough birds like turkeys.

The forward-facing edges are intentionally left unsharpened. When the arrow impacts the bird, these surfaces help slow the arrow rapidly rather than allowing it to pass straight through.
Combined with the spacing between the forward and rear blades, this promotes rapid deceleration and maximum energy transfer, two key elements in effective turkey broadhead performance.

Like many VPA broadheads, the Turkey Spur is precision CNC-machined from a single piece of high carbon tool steel, eliminating weak points found in multi-piece designs.
Each head is heat treated to 50–52 Rockwell hardness, providing an ideal balance of strength and edge retention.
A Black Oxide coating adds corrosion resistance and durability in demanding hunting conditions.

It's important to note that even stainless steel can corrode over time. To prevent this, we recommend keeping them dry, regularly sharpening them, and applying a protective layer of oil or Vaseline/ChapStick before storing them back in the quiver. By following these simple steps, you can ensure that your broadheads consistently meet and exceed your expectations.
